This Saturday the UFC is set to crown an interim Heavyweight champion among other highly anticipated fights.
Initially Amanda Nunes was supposed to defend her Bantamweight title again Juliana Penn for the Co-main event but was canceled due to her contracting COVID-19. Although this was called off it will still be a great event that you will not want to miss.
Derrick Lewis versus Ciryl Gane is shaping up to be the best event for the Heavyweights of the year. A title and a chance to face Francis Ngannou next is on the line. Gane has only been fighting in the UFC since 2019 and has found himself at the highest stage. He holds a powerful 9-0 record with submissions and knockout finishes. Lewis is a seasoned UFC veteran fighting for the promotion since 2014. He holds the heavyweight record for most knockouts.
Also on the card is the return of Jose Aldo. This is his first fight of 2021 as he hopes to reach the ranks of a new weight class moving to Bantamweight. Aldo is a former champion and was notoriously knocked out by Conor McGregor for the Featherweight championship. He is facing off against Pedro Munhoz who holds a 19-5 record.
Michael Chiesa and Vicente Luque are also fighting as they are top 10 ranked contenders for the Welterweight division. This matchup is important because the winner will surely have more credibility to possibly fight current champion Kamaru Usman.
The early prelims start at 5 PM CT on ESPN. The video linked below will catch you up on everything you need to know about the fights this Saturday.
