He ditches the country and meets his best friend, Dan, who he has lost contact with through the years. This character is played by Breckin Meyer.

Throughout the movie you see Brandon rise from being at his absolute worse to accepting life and learning from hardships. Also, you see Dan express to Brandon that he is upset that they aren’t as close as they used to be. While spending the three-day vacation together you watch Brandon go from emotionless barely wanting to be there to letting loose and partying hard with his best friend.
