Two of America's largest companies are set to release their own TV streaming service.
Apple and Disney have announced that Apple TV+ and Disney+ will be released sometime in 2019. It is likely both will have their own exclusive catalog. They hope to compete in the race against Hulu, Netflix, Amazon etc.
Disney+ will be available November 12, 2019. During the announcement of the streaming service their spokesperson stated that it will also be ad free. The membership fee is said to be $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. A live action Star Wars show and a Monsters Inc show will be featured and Disney+ can be accessed from smart TVs, gaming consoles or any other devices. Most of the Disney inventory will be ready to be streamed with this subscription.
Tim Cook stated in March that Apple will be releasing their streaming platform in the Fall as well. All Apple devices and smart TVs will be able to use this with a subscription. The prices have not yet been determined but they have announced some of their exclusive content. A film from M. Night Shyamalan, shows with Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and a cartoon from the creator of Bob's Burgers are a few programs that are said to be restricted to only the Apple TV+ platform.
