Are you having a tough time keeping up with all the trades and free agent moves? No worries this article will take your through everything you need to know.
There has been a lot of players who have new homes after spending years with a single franchise.
First, all the Titans transactions so far will be explained. Dion Lewis was released and signed by the Giants after Derrick Henry was given the franchise tag. Jurrell Casey was traded to Denver for a seventh-round pick. He was Tennessee leading pass rusher last year. Ryan Tannehill was resigned on a four-year deal worth $118 million with $62 million guaranteed.
Marcus Mariota was released and picked up by the Raiders.
They have not made any other moves yet but it could be expected to see them sign somebody on defense before the draft.
The most notable move was Tom Brady signing with Tampa Bay. After six super bowls and twenty years with the Patriots, Brady chose to leave. He signed a two-year deal worth nearly $50 million. Brady turns 43 in August.
Houston and Arizona agreed to ship DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson including draft picks from each team. So far this is the most surprising move. Johnson had a down year in the 2019 season, so it was a questionable move for the Texans trading away a top five receiver in the league.
The Panthers have chosen to move on from Cam Newton who was the 2015 MVP and former number one overall pick. They traded away Kyle Allen as well who stepped in when Newton got hurt. They did sign P.J. Walker who was the clear cut stand out in the XFL season that was cut short. He played his college ball at Temple.
Todd Gurley was cut by the Rams and was later picked up by Atlanta. He agreed to a one-year deal worth $6 million. A few years ago, he led the league in rushing but battled injury last year and was overshadowed by backups the last two seasons. The Falcons were struggling at running back last year and hope that he can go back to his old self.
Josh Allen got a true number one receiver in Stefon Diggs from the Vikings. The Bills traded away a first, fifth and sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft and a fourth in next years.
Indianapolis signed Xavier Rhodes who has been named an All-Pro cornerback. DeForest Bucker was traded to the Colts for a first-round pick. Their defense is looking nice on paper with Darius Leonard in his prime. They also signed Phillip Rivers who spent his entire career with the Chargers organization. This may or may not be the answer to Jacoby Brissett’s accuracy issues last season.
The Chargers also released Melvin Gordon. He made the Pro Bowl twice and rushed for 36 touchdowns with the team. He agreed to terms with the Broncos and will fight for playing time with Phillip Lindsay who had a good rookie season.
Drew Brees will be getting a new target to throw to next year. Emmanuel Sanders signed for two years in New Orleans. He played half a season in San Francisco and even played in the Super Bowl. The Michael Thomas and Sanders duo is going to be a sight to see.
The Eagles acquired two cornerbacks in Nickell Robey-Coleman and Darius Slay who has been to the Pro Bowl three times. This was a needed as their secondary was lacking in 2019. They also signed Javon Hargrave to beef up their defensive line alongside Fletcher Cox. He comes from the Steelers.
Jacksonville decides to stick with Garnder Minshew as they traded away Nick Foles to the Bears. This will give Mitchell Tribusky some competition in Chicago.
Jack Conklin left the Titans and decided to go play with the Browns. They also signed Case Keenum which may give Baker Mayfield some trouble for the starting spot. They did not have the season that they were hoping for.
